As one of England’s 325 major parish churches, St James’ is the size of many cathedrals and the only grade one heritage building in Louth. St James’ iconic spire is the major symbol of Louth and a major tourist attraction. Yet fundamentally, St James’ has been a place of Christian worship and witness since the 7th century. Sometimes described as, ‘the town’s church’, St James is a beacon of pilgrimage serving Louth and well beyond.
